Dr. Claudia Karkia

Growing up in the UK, Dr. Claudia discovered her love of orthodontics as a young child in her father’s office, where she worked every summer until she finished dental school at Guy’s Hospital in London. She then moved to New York to complete her orthodontic training and Master of Science in biomaterials at NYU. Dr. Claudia received many awards and grants for her research and studies, including her published paper, “Biphasic Calcium Phosphate: A Scaffold for Growth Plate Chondrocyte Maturation.”

Being an active part of the community, Dr. Claudia is an enthusiastic supporter of local children and their education. She is involved in many organizations, including the Petaluma Education Foundation, Boys and Girls Club, and the WISE Foundation. Dr. Claudia is always happy to make a contribution to your school fundraiser, so please be sure to ask her for a donation! Wanting to help families be aware of oral health, Dr. Claudia will be offering complementary K/1 Exams, which are now required for every child entering public school.

Dr. Claudia also serves as a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, California Dental Association, and the British Orthodontic Society, along with many others. She has served on the board of directors and is a past president of the local Redwood Empire Dental Society and Women in Business of Petaluma.

Dr. Claudia shares the office with her husband, Dr. Andy Ashtiani, who is an endodontist. They have two children. As a family they enjoy traveling together. When Dr. Claudia is not spending time with her family, she enjoys good friends, gourmet cooking, and many sports, including tennis and skiing.
